Visual artists, painters, sculptors, and mixed-media practitioners. Some residents are working professionals (gallery shows, commissions); others are early-career or transitioning into the practice. Diversity in age and nationality is high — what unifies the community is the practice itself.
Studio spaces with daylight, shared materials supplies, peer-critique sessions, and connections to local galleries and residencies. Operators in this category often have on-site exhibition space and run open studios for the local community on weekend cycles.
Choose artist coliving when the studio infrastructure (which is expensive to build solo) and the daily peer critique are the differentiators. The friction-reduction of not having to negotiate workspace with non-artist housemates is the under-rated benefit. Best paired with cities with active gallery ecosystems.
