Methodology
Rent: Median all-inclusive coliving room price in USD, derived from operator pricing pages and adjusted to 2026 Q2. Where direct coliving data was thin, the figure is anchored to Numbeo's 1-bedroom centre median plus a 15% furnished premium typical of coliving.
Internet: Country-level residential fixed-line download median from the Speedtest Global Index. Coliving operators typically run fiber at or above the country median; the figure reflects the experience a remote worker can realistically expect from coworking-friendly inventory.
Cost of Living Index: Numbeo CoL Index where New York City = 100. Reflects day-to-day spending (groceries, transport, dining, services) excluding rent.
Visa: Sourced from each country's official immigration site, with cross-checks against Nomad Capitalist and Henley & Partners summaries. A country is classified as visa-friendly for digital nomads only when a formal residence permit for remote workers exists (informal tourist-stay tolerance does not count).
Coverage: 211 active cities across 78 countries. Cities without sufficient cityFacts coverage (rent + internet + CoL) are excluded from rankings.
